Meet the ICD® Mascot
Hello, I am so thrilled and nervous to introduce myself. Many of you saw me before, at a couple of ICD® conferences. Before that, I was in pieces, literally. Let me tell you my story so you can get to know me.
How it started.
During a trip to the Mall of America with several conference attendees, Kris Todd visited the Build-A-Bear shop. She cleverly thought that ICD needed a mascot for conferences. She envisioned it and gave it form, believing I could be adorable and supportive. Furthermore, she knows about it because she works with many people affected by chronic disorganization—people who need compassion and understanding to help with their struggles.
Did I not tell you my name? I am Charlie Dependable. You can call me Charlie D, and I am ICD Chief Comfort Officer. Nice to meet you!
ICD is comforting and dependable.
As you know, ICD provides us with education, strategies, and research to develop skills to help others in desperate need, especially those affected by chronic disorganization, or CD, as we call it for short. Do you notice a connection there?
Easing the negative impact CD has on people’s lives requires not just deep education but also requires
- Empathy: Because we know that behind every “mess” is a human story.
- Customization: Because we understand that every mind works differently.
- Patience: Because progress is measured in small steps.
If you feel overwhelmed or don’t know how or where to start improving your quality of life, remember, I’m here, cheering you on, and ICD as well, with plenty of resources to help.
With a giant, squishy hug,
Charlie D.
