What is Chronic Disorganization?

– Persists over a long period of time
– Frequently undermines quality of life, and
– Recurs despite repeated self-help attempts

Chronic disorganization may be present with brain-based challenges such as ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Hoarding Disorder, PTSD, TBI, and more.

Some common characteristics of individuals affected by Chronic Disorganization include:

  • Accumulation of large quantities of objects, documents, papers or possessions
  • Difficulty parting with things and letting go
  • A wide range of interests and many uncompleted projects
  • Needing visual “clues” as reminders to take action
  • Easily distracted or loses focus easily; reduced concentration
  • Struggles with time management

Is Chronic Disorganization the same thing as Hoarding?

No, Hoarding is one way that we might see Chronic Disorganization, but not all people who are affected by Chronic Disorganization have hoarding behavior.
