The objective of the ICD Level IV Education Mentor Program is to develop an organizer's skills and knowledge in the areas of training, coaching, motivating, communicating and leadership. This program allows intermediate and advanced organizers to work independently and with peers and, in the process, expand and improve their training and communication skills. This development process will also assist the candidates with their own current and future client work. In addition, this program requires publishing and presenting of material to further individual and group knowledge.

The Level IV Education Mentor program starts in November. Applications will be posted in mid-September and will be due in mid-October.

Entry Requirements:

To participate in this program an organizer will need to

  • Be an ICD subscriber.
  • Have received the CPO-CD® Credential within the past two years. Click here for waiver information.
  • Complete an application for program admittance and mail it with appropriate fees to the ICD. The fee of $750.00 includes a $50.00 non-refundable application fee.
  • Be willing to sign a statement of confidentiality with assigned organizer(s) in Level III program training.

Program Components:

Total Time Commitment: 85 hours

  • Attend Program Orientation 
  • Attend four one-hour labs 
  • Attend four ICD mentoring teleclasses 
  • Complete four book annotations 
  • Act as an education mentor for at least two ICD subscribers in the pre-CPO-CD® stages of their ICD education 
  • Facilitate a Level III class meeting and be prepared to act as a resource to the class
  • Participate in least one Peer Review as a panelist 
  • Earn 10 ICD Public Service Points
  • Complete ICD Service in each of the following areas:
    • Writing: Choose one of the following activities
      • Act as writing support for Level III students in the capacity of editor and/or second reader
      • Publish an article on CD issues in The Chronical
      • Other activity approved by the Certification Program Director 
  • Presenting: Choose one of the following activities
    • Facilitate an ICD new subscriber orientation or ICD exam study session
    • Participate as a panelist on an ICD teleclass
    • Other activity approved by the Certification Program Director

Leadership: Choose one of the following activities

  • ICD research support
  • 20 high-value ICD service points with a minimum of eight points per activity
  • Other activity approved by the Certification Program Director

Complete all program requirements within a 10-month time period. Expected graduation is the September following beginning of the program

Upon completing all the requirements, the Level IV Education Mentor candidate must submit the Level IV Education Mentor Completion Application.
